With the Spring Festival approaching, the sales season for festive flowers and kumquat trees in Nansha distirct, Guangzhou has arrived early. In areas like Dagang town and Lanhe town, many growers have already secured orders straight from the fields, showcasing a bustling and joyful atmosphere.

As a star product in Lingnan's flower markets, the kumquat output this year has increased slightly compared to the previous year, while prices remain stable.

Grower Wu Jingen from Lanhe town noted that over half of his trees have been pre-ordered by buyers from the Pearl River Delta, Hong Kong, and even Singapore. Quality is key to maintaining customer loyalty, he noted.

According to Chen Fanghan, supervisor of the Guangdong Flower Association, about 80 percent of Nansha growers have expanded their cultivation scale this year.

Nansha's kumquat cultivation spans 2,000 mu (133.3 hectares), with an annual output exceeding 600,000 potted plants and an output value surpassing 100 million yuan ($14.36 million). Its market competitiveness primarily stems from favorable climatic and soil conditions, growers' mature technical expertise, and a robust sales network.

In addition to kumquats, festive flowers such as peach blossoms and chrysanthemums are also proving highly sought after. Orders for these flowers have been fully placed even before the peak sales period begins. Currently, Nansha has 347 growers specializing in festive plants, with their products not only meeting local demand but also reaching markets across the country.
