Guangzhou Nanhua Jewelry Art Museum opened to the public free of charge starting Jan 1, 2026.
The policy aims to promote public understanding of gemology and jewelry art, allowing more people to appreciate the beauty of jewelry craftsmanship. Visitors can book free tickets through the museum's official WeChat account. Opening hours are from 9 am to 5 pm, Tuesday through Sunday, with last entry at 4:30 pm. The museum is closed on Mondays, except for public holidays.
In addition to its permanent exhibitions, the museum offers a variety of hands-on educational programs. These include a gem-digging activity where participants can excavate real minerals such as rubies, crystals, and turquoise from sand pits. Another workshop allows visitors to create traditional mother-of-pearl accessories using shell fragments and lacquer bases. There is also a mineral art activity where natural stones and gems are used to compose unique artistic collages. Other activities include gold-leaf painting, artificial amber crafting, and jewelry stringing.
By combining exhibitions with interactive experiences, the museum offers an engaging way to learn about gemology and traditional arts. This initiative reflects its commitment to making jewelry culture more accessible while enhancing public appreciation of natural and artistic heritage.
