Wushu competition concludes at 15th National Games

The "Gaofei Cup" Wushu Routines competition of the 15th National Games concluded on Nov 10 at the Guangzhou Nansha District Gymnasium. After intense competition, the Shandong team claimed group gold, while the Jilin and Shaanxi teams secured silver and bronze, respectively.

The event gathered elite Wushu athletes from across the country, who delivered outstanding performances in disciplines such as men's Long Fist, Daoshu, Cudgel Play all-around, and women's Taijiquan and Taijijian all-around.

International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Kirsty Coventry and Honorary Lifetime President Thomas Bach attended the competition as special guests, watching the event and interacting with athletes. Nansha district presented them with symbolic local gifts – a gambiered Guangdong gauze shawl and a traditional Lingnan-style bamboo hat – that showcase the region's cultural charm.

The atmosphere was electric both inside and outside the venue, with enthusiastic cheers from the audience and dedicated support from volunteers and staff, underscoring Nansha's capacity to host national-level events. A food carnival held alongside the competition further enriched the festive atmosphere.

The event's mascots, "Xi Yangyang" and "Le Rongrong", added energy and charm to the occasion. This Wushu competition fully demonstrated the power and beauty of Chinese martial arts, as well as Nansha's organizational prowess and vitality.
