The 2025 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Marine Cooperation Development Forum was held on Oct 15 in Nansha district, Guangzhou. It was revealed at the forum that Guangdong's marine production value exceeded 2 trillion yuan ($280.6 billion) in 2024, ranking first in China for the 30th consecutive year.
As the core engine of the Greater Bay Area, Guangzhou will strengthen marine technology innovation, cultivate new quality productive forces in the marine economy, deepen regional collaboration, and build an open and business-friendly environment.

The forum featured thematic seminars and corporate roadshows focusing on emerging fields such as shipbuilding and marine engineering equipment, marine electronic information, and biomedicine, showcasing 15 cutting-edge technological achievements.
At the same time, the event exhibited 80 marine technology innovations from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. The forum also released the "14th Five-Year Plan" Achievements in Guangdong's Marine Province Construction, and the 2025 Top 10 Outcomes in Six Major Marine Industries, highlighting breakthroughs in offshore wind power and natural gas hydrates.
During the forum, marine institutions from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao jointly launched the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Marine Industry Cooperation Initiative, proposing collaborative efforts, including establishing a shared platform for marine technology resources, talent training bases, and a blue finance alliance. This pivotal step marks a new phase of institutionalized and systematic cooperation in the marine sector across the three regions.
