Guangzhou Intl Women's Open set for October in Nansha

The 2025 Guangzhou International Women's Open is scheduled to take place from Oct 19 to 26 at the Nansha International Tennis Center in Guangzhou.

As one of China's longest-standing WTA Tour tournaments, it has been a key part of the national tennis scene since 2004. This year is the third straight year being held in Nansha.

The Guangzhou Open is classified as a WTA 250 event with a total prize money of $275,000. It includes both singles and doubles tournaments. Qualifying rounds will commence on Oct 19, with the main draw starting on Oct 20. The event will conclude with the finals and award ceremony on Oct 26. The list of accepted entries is expected to be announced between mid and late-September.

The Guangzhou Open is celebrated as a lucky place for Chinese female tennis players. Over the years, it has been the stage for remarkable victories by many of China's most illustrious tennis talents, including champions such as Li Na and Zhang Shuai. The event has also attracted a roster of distinguished international players, including Martina Hingis and Simona Halep.

In recent years, Nansha has been establishing itself as a major tennis center, hosting events like the Guangzhou Open, ATP Challenger Tour, and Billie Jean King Cup. The region's youth tennis development system continues to improve. With the upcoming National Games and planned mass tennis events in the area, Nansha's influence in Chinese tennis is expected to expand further.
