Guangdong Radio and Television Station and the Nansha district people's government signed a strategic agreement on Aug 18 to launch the "Future Film and Television Industrial Park" project.

The project, which has a total investment exceeding 6 billion yuan ($835.2 million), focuses on metaverse technology and plans to construct four major components: a content production system, a future film and television communication matrix, a cultural and tourism center, and an industry talent gathering service.

The park is positioned as a national-level film and television industry cluster, aiming to promote the integration of culture and technology in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Nansha has attracted multiple collaborations by utilizing its strategic location at the heart of the Greater Bay Area and benefiting from a 15 percent corporate income tax policy. These collaborations include the Pearl River Channel, which will launch Cantonese cultural tourism programs, Wanzhixin Technology, which will co-initiate an AIGC international competition, and Zhongzheng Film and Television, which will establish an AI short drama export base.

Cai Fuqing, director of Guangdong TV, stated that this project will integrate resources for technology development and content incubation, forming a digital and intelligent audio-visual ecosystem. Yue Yang, Party chief of Nansha district, emphasized that the project is expected to cultivate international cultural products, injecting new momentum into regional development.

The project's first phase will prioritize the construction of the metaverse transmission tower and production center, the second phase will develop cultural tourism facilities, and the third phase will focus on talent support, making the project a benchmark for cultural and technological integration in the Greater Bay Area.
