The launch ceremony for the 2025 Guangzhou Nansha - Tianhe District World Environment Day Promotional Event took place at the Nansha Planning Exhibition Hall on June 5.

The activities at the Tianhe venue commenced on June 3 and highlighted the ecological and environmental accomplishments of the two districts, promoting a commitment to a green and low-carbon lifestyle. Volunteers from Nansha and Tianhe launched a campaign featuring short videos and posters, as well as an engaging sports event for the public.

One element of the event was the ecological walking challenge, where participants started from the Planning Exhibition Hall and followed a green path around Fengqi Lake, encountering various checkpoints along the way. Fengqi Lake, once an abandoned quarry, has undergone transformation into an ecologically managed lake and is now recognized as an exemplary model of beautiful rivers and lakes in Guangzhou.

Simultaneously, the Jiaomen River hosted a kayaking eco-competition, where participants completed tasks along the river, allowing them to appreciate the natural beauty of Nansha.

In recent years, Nansha has utilized its ecological resources to develop a new format of "sports economy + ecological tourism", creating a "sports + ecology" environment. The ecological environment in Nansha continues to improve, reflected in enhanced air and water quality.

Several rivers and lakes have received recognition for their beauty, with ongoing efforts to create additional exemplary sites this year. This event attracted widespread community involvement, showcasing the ecological achievements of both districts and serving as a model for Guangzhou's vision of becoming a beautiful Chinese city, while contributing to the framework for ecological protection aimed at building a greener and more beautiful Guangzhou.
