The 40th Guangzhou International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament took place along the Pearl River on June 1.
This influential race in the Lingnan region, beloved by locals, plays a crucial role in promoting sports and cultural exchanges within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and internationally.
The event attracted 116 elite teams and over 4,000 athletes from sister cities, the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, consulates in Guangzhou, and overseas. Nansha district sent multiple teams, with one 22-member team securing third place in the Men's Open Standard Dragon Boat category.
The competition venue featured elements from the 15th National Games, with slogans like "Passion for the National Games, Energy for the Greater Bay Area" and various mascots, blending the Dragon Boat Festival celebrations with the spirit of the Games.
In recent years, Nansha district has been seeking to boost development by promoting distinctive sports projects. With a strong dragon boat culture and active participation from various communities, water sports activities have flourished.
The successful hosting of the Guangzhou International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament not only showcased the charm of traditional culture but also advanced regional sports and cultural exchanges, injecting new vitality into the sports industry in Nansha district and the entire Greater Bay Area.
