With strategic policies, comprehensive industry chain support, and an open environment, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is forging ahead to become a globally influential innovation hub for artificial intelligence.
To comprehensively upgrade the AI innovation ecosystem and establish a new global hub for the AI industry in the Greater Bay Area, the "Greater Bay Area Artificial Intelligence Industry Innovation Alliance Inaugural Conference" was held in Nansha on May 26.
Nansha, as a strategic national platform rooted in the Greater Bay Area, collaborating with Hong Kong and Macao and facing the world, is accelerating its transformation into a new incubator for quality productivity. By 2024, the scale of AI-related industries is expected to reach approximately 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion), with a year-on-year growth of 12 percent.
Bringing together over 400 government, university, and business representatives, as well as international experts, the event increased the momentum behind collaborative innovation in the AI industry through strategic agreements and other measures.
Launched by HKUST(GZ) and Huawei in collaboration with renowned institutions from Hong Kong, Macao, and foreign countries, the alliance aims to integrate technological resources, drive high-quality industrial development nationwide, and turn Nansha into a leading AI innovation hub.
The alliance will focus on three core tasks – technological breakthroughs, industrial agglomeration, and ecosystem development – to promote the upgrading of Nansha's AI industry. This includes breakthroughs in key technological areas, the formation of industrial clusters, and the establishment of a comprehensive industry service system.
