The 17th Nansha Mazu Cultural Tourism Festival opening ceremony took place on April 18 at the Nansha Tianhou Palace Scenic Area in Guangzhou.

For the first time this year, the event seamlessly fused Mazu culture with a captivating light show, delving into the profound cultural and spiritual essence of Mazu. This integration connected with the burgeoning Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Lantern Festival, enhancing the overall cultural experience.

The event unfolded as a cultural extravaganza, radiating cultural pride and the allure of the GBA to the public. This celebration not only promoted the enduring spirit of Mazu but also played a vital role in Nansha's journey to establish itself as a new cultural nucleus within the GBA. By fostering collaborations with Hong Kong and Macao and embracing a global outlook, Nansha is poised to become a beacon of cultural richness and diversity in the region.

During the event, people can attend a Mazu worship ceremony, temple fair, Mazu sea patrol, and intangible cultural heritage presentations over the course of three days. They can also participate in traditional folk events and enjoy activities such as visiting photography exhibitions. Daytime offers a view of folk customs, while nighttime presents a journey through the colorful GBA culture with immersive experiences of beauty, fun, and deliciousness.
