With the first batch of Qingjiang fish being put into production through the intelligent sorting system on March 26, the landmark project of the "vegetable basket" project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Blue Fish Harbor Aquatic Sorting and Processing Center, officially commenced trial operation.

Based in Nansha district of Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province, the project, once fully operational, will annually supply over 30,000 metric tons of high-standard prefabricated aquatic products and fresh farm produce to the Greater Bay Area, boosting incomes for local fish farmers.

Located on Honggang Road in Nansha district, the project covers an area of 2 hectares, with a total construction area of 36,000 square meters and a total investment exceeding 350 million yuan ($48 million). The project integrates seven major functional modules including deep processing of aquatic products, intelligent sorting, and cold chain logistics.

It is estimated that the processing capacity of aquatic products from the project could reach 35,000 tons annually, with cold chain storage capacity exceeding 8,000 tons, and the expected output value exceeding 1 billion yuan.

The operation of this project signifies a new phase of digitalization, intelligence and large-scale development of the "Blue Granary" in Nansha.

As the main operator of the project, Hengxing Food (Guangzhou) has simultaneously started trial operations, aiming to promote a high-quality transformation across the entire chain of the aquatic processing industry from pond to table.
