Guangzhou OED Technologies, a high-tech company based in Nansha district of Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province, made a groundbreaking announcement on March 25 that it had developed the world's first E-paper display screen measuring over 30 inches.
This revolutionary technology boasts a refresh rate of up to 18 frames per second, enabling smooth video playback. This marks a significant milestone in developing E-paper display technology, transitioning from static to dynamic displays, and reshaping the boundaries of E-paper display applications.
"This breakthrough technology not only elevates the heights of E-paper display technology but also opens a new chapter for large-sized color E-paper, making smooth video playback on large E-paper display screens a reality," said Chen Yu, founder and chairman of OED.
The E-paper display screen introduced by OED measures 31.2 inches, combining large size with high refresh rates to redefine the application boundaries of E-paper display technology.
The product has entered the mass production phase and is expected to hit the market officially within the next two months.
The newly launched product results from the collaboration between OED and Shenzhen-based Geniatech, achieving a technical breakthrough through dedicated algorithm development and FPGA processing technology. They successfully overcame the technical challenges by implementing core innovations such as unified control of split screens, optimized image processing algorithms, and local display functions, allowing dynamic refresh of specific screen areas and synchronized split-screen display on large screens.
