A key seminar jointly hosted by Nansha and Macao, took place at the MGM Cotai Hotel in Macao on March 21. The event was themed on "Building a world-class cultural tourism brand hand in hand with Nansha and Macao".

It assembled leading people from the cultural and tourism sectors of both regions – tasking them with looking into fresh opportunities and avenues for their integrated development.

In recent years, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has accelerated the collaborative innovation of the cultural tourism industry – paving the way for cultural exchanges and mutual learning, as well as constructing world-class tourism destinations.

In 2024, Nansha handled nearly 60 million tourists – up a whopping 105 percent on the previous year, in a performance that showcased the impressive achievements in the development of the cultural tourism sector.

To date, the district has implemented six key provisions and 15 specific measures within the tourism industry. It's anticipating increased participation from cultural and tourism enterprises in Macao, fostering exchanges and investments in Nansha. Capitalizing on the opportunity afforded by hosting events in the 15th National Games, they're seeking to enhance its collaboration with Macao across cultural tourism and sports.

Throughout the interactive session, attendees and industry experts keenly participated in discussions. It's believed that the successful execution of the seminar not only offered a platform for dialogue between the cultural and tourism sectors of both places, but also established a robust groundwork for future industry collaborations.

Attendees underscored the raft of opportunities available for collaboration and emphasized the importance of bolstering exchanges and enhancing resource sharing.

That was in order to help attract more Macao projects in Nansha, promote the advancement of cultural tourism in both regions and propel the flourishing development of the Bay Area's cultural tourism sector.
