Automobile manufacturing giant Guangzhou Automobile Group, or GAC, established an important new company called Huawang Automobile Technology (Guangzhou) on March 18 in Nansha district of Guangzhou – capital of South China's Guangdong province.

It reflected the further expansion of GAC, headquartered in Guangzhou, into the realm of intelligent automotive technology and high-end auto branding.

With a registered capital of 1.5 billion yuan ($206 million), Huawang Automobile Technology's business scope encompasses automobile sales, manufacturing of automobile parts and accessories, sales of new energy vehicle production testing equipment and sales of complete new energy vehicles.

Plans are for it to introduce a new high-end automotive brand with upcoming models – featuring intelligent driving software, intelligent cockpits and intelligent vehicle control solutions developed by tech giant Huawei.

In recent years, GAC has been investing in intelligent driving technology with the goal of entering the global top tier by 2027, in terms of intelligent driving capabilities and research and development. Overall, it aims to leverage the strengths of itself and Huawei to develop a new automotive brand.

Teams from both companies have commenced collaborative efforts and are dedicated to launching a series of intelligent new vehicle products.

The first product is set to be a luxury intelligent new energy vehicle priced at around 300,000 yuan, promising consumers a cutting-edge intelligent traveling experience.
