Construction on the Sino Bio project in the Yuexiu iPARK Guangdong-Hong Kong Intelligence Valley in Nansha began on Feb 9. This cell therapy production facility, covering an area of over 5,000 square meters and five stories high, is set to be finished and operational within six months. It is expected to generate annual revenues of hundreds of millions within three years of commencing production.
This marks the establishment of the 180th project in the valley, a noteworthy milestone achieved in less than a year since its inauguration. With more than 180 registered and operational enterprises encompassing over 20 listed company headquarters and subsidiaries, the valley's collective output has exceeded 12 billion yuan ($1.65 billion), contributing over 1 billion yuan in tax revenue.
Operating within a government-school cooperation framework, this initiative strives to harmonize proactive governmental policies with a dynamic market, creating a supportive platform and ecosystem for school-incubated enterprises. By facilitating the interconnection of creative minds, promising projects, cutting-edge technologies, social resources, and physical infrastructure, the initiative places emphasis on market needs to unlock the innovative capabilities of emerging scientific talent. Government backing is instrumental in overseeing and steering the rapid integration of innovation components, fostering the transfer of technology, and propelling industrial advancement.
Moreover, the initiative will attract innovative minds from universities in Guangzhou, along with the eight major universities in Hong Kong and five major universities in Macao, to cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in Nansha. This strategic endeavor is designed to systematically develop an innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in and around the valley, leveraging research and human capital to build a holistic framework for scientific and technological innovation industries.
