A cargo ship carrying over 1,200 containers and approximately 20,000 metric tons of Chilean cherries recently docked at the Phase II terminal of the Nansha Port in Guangzhou. This marks the largest single import of Chilean cherries at the Guangzhou Nansha Port since the start of the 2024-2025 Chilean cherry season.
To expedite customs clearance and ensure the freshness and quality of imported fresh fruits like Chilean cherries, Guangzhou Customs, while rigorously enforcing fruit quarantine measures, has designated certain personnel to provide end-to-end services such as reviewing documents, carrying out laboratory testing, and issuing certificates. It has also implemented streamlined processes like "pre-declaration and on-site diversion" to make the clearance of imported fruits more efficient and secure.
Throughout the Chilean cherry season, 12 express vessels carrying primarily cherries are expected to berth at the Guangzhou Nansha Port, importing around 10,000 containers and 170,000 tons of the fruit – approximately 40 percent of China's total cherry imports and making Nansha Port the country's leading gateway for cherry imports.
