On Jan 5, Guangzhou First People's Hospital inaugurated the Stem Cell Transplantation and Cell Therapy Center at the Nansha Hospital campus.
The hospital's Hematology Department has 150 beds, including 30 laminar flow wards. The new center is one of the largest in Guangdong province and is expected to perform over 300 transplant surgeries annually.

The hospital is at the forefront nationally in the treatment of aplastic anemia. It houses eight subspecialties in Hematology, including programs dedicated to treating aplastic disorders, with technology reaching advanced levels domestically.
Apart from severe aplastic anemia, its transplant team has achieved significant success in treating malignancies such as acute leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.
Over the years, the hospital has established a comprehensive transplant system, including pre-treatment and complication management, and has led in post-transplant virus prevention and management within the province.
Leveraging the policy advantages of cell and gene therapy in Nansha district, the hospital aims to create a high-end disciplinary platform, promoting medical technologies from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to nationwide and Southeast Asia, benefiting more patients with blood disorders.
