From Nov 23 to 25, the finals of the 2nd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition were held in Nansha district, Guangzhou.

This year's competition featured three categories: Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Challenge Response. It focused on fields such as next-generation information technology, semiconductors, biomedicine, advanced equipment, new materials and new energy, marine research, among other industrial sectors. After the preliminary and semi-final rounds, over 200 high-level projects advanced to the finals.
In the end, the competition awarded four Grand Prizes, 18 Gold Prizes, 16 Silver Prizes, 32 Bronze Prizes, and 40 Excellence Awards, with the total prize money reaching 10.2 million yuan ($1.4 million). Nansha had eight projects make it to the finals, which ultimately earned one Grand Prize, three Gold Prizes, and two Excellence Awards.
During the finals, several events were held concurrently, including project exhibitions, talent recruitment, project result commercialization matchmaking meetings, and the "Hong Kong Scholars Program" academic annual conference, promoting scientific research in southern Guangdong.
The competition saw 41 units reach prospective cooperation agreements on 122 projects, with total contract amounts reaching 2.31 billion yuan, with Nansha seeing 53 prospective contracts worth 368 million yuan.
A special recruitment fair attracted over 1,200 PhD and postdoctoral candidates from 247 renowned universities. Online, 5,000 resumes were received, with more than 2,350 matches or preliminary intent-to-work agreements.
This year's competition built a development platform for young scientific and technological talents and promoted the transformation of PhD and postdoctoral research results.
