On Nov 15, the first sub-forum of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum 2024, titled "big science plans and international cooperation," was held in Guangzhou's bio-island. The event brought together over 200 top experts from nearly 20 countries, including multiple Chinese Academy of Sciences academicians, to discuss international cooperation and win-win strategies in the era of big science.
Key highlights included the Human Proteome Project (π-HuB Project), led by He Fuchu, which aims to advance smart medicine and enhance global scientific collaboration. He expressed gratitude for the substantial support from various government levels, which has been pivotal in establishing the international headquarters and providing essential resources.
Robert Moritz, Chairman of the π-HuB Plan Nomination Committee, underscored the importance of global collaboration in proteomics, highlighting Chinese scientists' leadership in this initiative. Notable keynote speakers like Ruedi Aebersold and ITER Deputy Director-General Luo Delong shared successful international cooperation experiences, emphasizing the significance of such collaborations in addressing global scientific challenges.
The forum concluded with a consensus on the necessity of multidisciplinary collaboration and the application of frontier technologies such as big data and AI.
