Nansha Public Health Clinical Center established in Guangzhou

The unveiling ceremony of the Nansha District Public Health Clinical Center at No 2 Industrial Road in Hengli town took place on Nov 11, marking the establishment of Guangzhou's first public health clinical center.

The center, formed by integrating the former Nansha Third People's Hospital and Xinsha Hospital, aims to advance the construction of the Nansha public health system and enhance the capacity to respond to public health emergencies.

Currently, the Nansha District Public Health Clinical Center has opened specialty departments such as Psychiatry, Tuberculosis, Public Health, and Dermatology, with plans to construct a comprehensive building with a total floor area of 15,400 square meters, expected to be completed and accepted by September 2025.

Zhang Yi, deputy director of the Guangzhou health commission, stated that establishing the clinical center will help improve the epidemic prevention and control system, promote the integrated development of disease prevention and treatment, and ensure regional public health security.

In July of this year, the Nansha district health bureau issued a work announcement related to medical institution system reform, explicitly proposing optimizing medical institution layout and balancing medical resources through measures such as transforming some hospitals into community health service centers. The unveiling of the Nansha District Public Health Clinical Center is essential to this reform.
