The Greater Bay Area Science Forum 2024 is scheduled to be held from Nov 16 to 18, according to a press conference held by the Information Office of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government in Guangzhou on Nov 6.
The forum was organized by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, in conjunction with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, and its related events will take place across the three regions.
With the theme "Leading through Open Science", the forum includes an opening ceremony, the main forum, 14 parallel sessions, and five special events. The opening ceremony and main forum will be held on the morning of Nov 17 at the Nansha International Convention and Exhibition Center in Guangzhou.
The main forum will feature keynote speeches by Nobel laureates, Fields medalists, heads of international academic institutions, renowned domestic and international academicians, and representatives of leading enterprises. The 14 parallel sessions will include discussions on hot topics in the scientific and industrial communities.
Speaking at the press conference, Zhang Guozhi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Guangdong Provincial Committee, said that the governments of Guangdong, HKSAR and Macao SAR will take the joint hosting of this forum as an opportunity to further strengthen scientific and technological exchange, cooperation, and innovation, jointly promoting the high-quality development of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.
More than 100 scientists have confirmed their attendance, Zhang said.
