This expedition is poised to focus on constructing supporting facilities at the Antarctic Kunlun Station, investigating the impact of climate change on the Antarctic ecosystem, and engaging in extensive international cooperation in scientific research and logistical support.
The expedition is expected to last seven months, with an estimated return to China in May 2025. It consists of over 500 individuals from more than 80 different organizations.
Three ships are set to support the expedition, with the Xue Long and Xue Long No 2 conducting scientific research and personnel transport missions. In contrast, the cargo ship Yongsheng is anticipated to transport materials for the Qinling Station facilities.
