The sea-rail intermodal transportation at Guangzhou Port saw a notable increment from January to July this year, with cumulative volume growth of 35.7 percent year-on-year. A new record was set as the monthly sea-rail intermodal volume has exceeded 53,000 TEUs.
Guangzhou Port Group and Guangzhou Railway Group have deepened their cooperation by hosting customer promotion meetings and inaugural train ceremonies in cities such as Nanchang, Xiangyang, and Meizhou to expand their market presence.
In response to the demand for ore from steel mills in northern Guangdong, Guangzhou Port has introduced ore bulk-to-container block trains, easing the pressure on road transport and lower logistics costs.
Guangzhou Railway Group provides a variety of container types to meet personalized service needs, enhancing brand competitiveness. Both parties are advancing the integration of sea-rail intermodal operations to optimize operational processes and management, thereby improving operational efficiency and service quality.
Currently, the integration of Guangzhou Port's multimodal transportion system, Nansha Port's TOS system, and Guangzhou Railway's cloud platform system have shown preliminary results in driving digitalization and smart transformation.
Plans to enhance the railway port capacity on the east bank of Guangzhou Port are progressing, with projects to upgrade facilities and capabilities in the new port and Xinsha areas accelerating. These efforts aim to achieve the interim goal of 200,000 TEUs, solidifying Guangzhou Port's position as a comprehensive logistics and transportation hub.
