Nansha project selected as national pilot projects

On April 23, the pilot project for autonomous driving in urban travel services in Nansha district, Guangzhou, was selected for the national second batch of intelligent transportation pilot projects.

This pilot project aims to promote the large-scale production of autonomous driving and the trial application of autonomous driving urban travel services throughout Nansha. The project plans to deploy a fleet of nearly 300 autonomous passenger cars along with 1,000 operating stations and complete travel services for at least 1.5 million people, covering a distance of no less than 10 million kilometers.

One of the key benefits of this project is the establishment of a command and dispatch supervision platform. This platform is set not only to cover autonomous driving travel services but also to provide minute-level traffic situation updates, forming visual event alerts and management capabilities.

The implementation of the project is intended to create an open area for mutual recognition of autonomous driving travel services, led by Nansha and including core areas such as Qianhai and Hengqin in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, supporting the construction of a production base for autonomous driving vehicles with a planned capacity of over 1,000 vehicles. The project is scheduled to be implemented from April 2024 to October 2025.

Currently, the core area of Pearl Bay is deploying unmanned driving vehicles and vehicle-road collaborative equipment, developing smart transportation. The area has already launched unmanned driving buses, unmanned driving sanitation vehicles, and autonomous driving taxis, which have been integrated with the vehicle-road collaborative new platform.
