Guangzhou's Nansha district recently drew up a plan to improve its transportation system to become a node better connected to other cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

According to the plan, 13 high-speed rail lines will be built to connect the district with six international airports in the Greater Bay Area within 45 minutes and to foster a 12-hour airline circle.

Five transport channels will be respectively developed to connect Nansha with Hong Kong and Macao better, creating a 30-minute commuting circle between the district and the two special administrative regions.

Nansha will build new high-speed railways and inter-city rail lines to build a rail transportation network, enabling passengers to commute between the district and other cities in the Greater Bay Area within one hour.

Over the past few years, Nansha has achieved significant development in both land and sea transportation. High-speed railway lines, passenger and cargo rails, and inner-city subways have helped the district extend its transportation network.

The container throughput of Nansha Port ranks fifth in the world, and the cruise port in Nansha is among the country's top three with its extensive passenger volume.

In 2022, the daily average travel volume between Nansha and other cities in the Greater Bay Area was 776,000 people, up 8.6 percent year-on-year.
