Guangzhou Shipyard International Company delivered a large-capacity battery hybrid dual-end luxury roll on/roll off (ro-ro) passenger ship, named P&O LIBERTE, to UK company P&O Ferries on Nov 29.
This vessel will be deployed in the English Channel, mainly shuttling between the port of Dover in the UK and the port of Calais in France.
This type of vessel is currently the second of its kind globally. In terms of carbon emissions, P&O LIBERTE will produce 40 percent less than similar vessels that previously operated on this route.
With a length of 230.5 meters and a width of 30.8 meters, the vessel has a service speed of 20.8 knots per hour.
The ship is highly automated, with almost all functions capable of being controlled automatically. There are over 12,000 alarm and control points on the ship, and the crew can even monitor the vessels situation from the engine room.
