The tribute citrus of Wanqingsha town in Nansha district recently entered their harvest season, meaning they are ready to hit the market from late autumn to around Chinese New Year, local media outlets reported on Nov 20.

This kind of fruit is a natural hybrid variety of oranges and tangerines, combining the fragrant properties of oranges with the sweetness of tangerines, incorporating the best of both. It is not large, and can be easily held in one hand.

The fruit's peel is mainly dark green and feels smooth to the touch. Underneath the thin peel lies delectable golden flesh. This locally grown variety has a sweet taste and is bursting with juice, with almost no acidity, making it a perfect palate cleanser after a meal.

Wanqingsha town has been cultivating tribute citrus since 2007, and the current plantation area spans 47 mu (3 hectares), with an average yield of approximately 2,500 kilograms per mu.

The district's favorable growing conditions, including a warm climate, fertile soil, abundant sunlight, and sufficient rainfall, have resulted in citrus fruit with high sugar content in their flesh.
