Nansha acts to promote development of marine ranching

A forum on the high-quality development of marine ranching, a branch event of the 2023 Maritime Silk Road (Nansha) Forum, was held on July 28 in Guangzhou's Nansha district.

At the forum, experts delivered speeches on the pressing issues such as deep-sea aquaculture and smart fisheries. They focused on figuring out a specific path for the modernization of marine ranching industry in Guangdong.

Experts also noted that Nansha's achievements in the sectors of marine fisheries, modern equipment manufacturing and scientific research, have laid a solid foundation in its strategic position as being an important base and pivot in constructing a full industry supply chain for marine ranching.

The marine ranching industry involves the placement of artificial reefs, which serve as habitats for various marine species, including fish, shrimps, crabs and shellfish. They provide a space for these organisms to forage, rest, and reproduce, thus contributing to the biodiversity of the marine environment.
