Nansha has been recently approved as the first comprehensive pilot zone for future cities in Guangdong, making it the province's first district-level comprehensive pilot zone, local media outlets reported on July 21.

Located in the geometric center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Nansha boasts a superior natural environment with mountains, lakes, and forests. It also has ecological corridors, coastal greenways, and urban greenways within easy reach.

Nansha has previously been approved as a national-level economic and technological development zone, a national-level new area, and the China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

Nansha has also always encouraged the development of the real economy and its manufacturing industry. Through years of effort, Nansha has now become a gathering place for industries.

The regional economy shows a vigorous development trend, with an average annual GDP growth rate of over 10 percent over the last decade, thus providing strong support for the district's future city pilot program.

In the future, Nansha will build one comprehensive pilot zone for the district and two integrated demonstration zones for pilot technologies. It also plans to identify a batch of pilot projects, establish a work system, and strive to implement several supportive policies focusing on five areas, including industrial parks and public infrastructure.
