A delegation of seven journalists from the top media outlets in Cyprus, including the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) and Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, visited Guangzhou's Nansha district to boost relations between the two sides from July 13 to 15.

During their visit, they got to learn about Nansha's dynamic development, getting a take on the district's efforts to become the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

They visited the Lijiao Sewage Treatment Plant, the Nansha Wetland and other water ecosystem protection and resource management facilities, gaining insights into the achievements of the ecological construction of a green and beautiful Nansha.

They also visited Yong Qing Fang and the Cantonese Opera Art Museum in Liwan district, as well as Flower City Square and the Canton Tower in Tianhe district, to get a sense of the city's modernity and traditional culture.

The Republic of Cyprus, a major island located in the northeastern Mediterranean, covers an area of 9,251 square kilometers. Diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level between China and Cyprus were established in 1971.

In 2018, Guangzhou and Ayia Napa, one of the most popular tourist cities in Cyprus, established sister city relations, fostering links in commerce and trade, as well as education and cultural tourism.
