The National Carbon Measurement Center (Guangdong) will be set up in Guangzhou's Nansha district, local media outlets reported on July 13.
The center is expected to play a crucial role in establishing a unified and standardized carbon emissions measuring system in Guangdong province.
It aims to provide a solution for measuring, reporting, and verifying greenhouse gas emissions, thereby helping achieve the nation's carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals on schedule.
It will promote data coordination, standardization and mutual data mobilization in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and facilitate the integration of Hong Kong and Macao into the national development strategy in terms of carbon emission reductions.
Furthermore, it will also support the transition from carbon accounting to carbon measurements, as well as provide training and promote policy and institutional awareness.
It's expected that the establishment of the center will bolster related carbon measurements research, while promoting the application of measurement technology and improving the quality of carbon emissions data in China.
