Nansha promotes folk culture through festive events

To celebrate the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival on June 22, Guangzhou's Nansha district has organized a series of exciting activities in Dongchong town, highlighting the district's rich folk culture.

In addition to the classic dragon boat races, the festivities include the traditional xingshi dance, a popular lion dance with Lingnan characteristics, as well as a wedding drama performed on a boat, showcasing the town's traditional wedding customs.

Of note, an interesting fadou competition took place on the river on June 18. The performers knelt inside wooden buckets, gripping paddles with both hands and maneuvering their way forward.
