Nansha tops at Guangzhou intl dragon boat tournament

To celebrate the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, the 2023 Guangzhou International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament kicked off on June 17 on the Pearl River.

Dragon boat racing is a popular folk activity that has been passed down for generations with wide participation and high enthusiasm from the public. It is also an intangible cultural heritage item in Guangzhou.

Nansha's dragon boat team won first prize in the colored dragon competition during the tournament. This competition involves participants decorating their boats and competing with not only skills, but also with aesthetics, resulting in a captivating water performance.

Nansha's boat took the lead in the competition for integrating modern elements and traditional culture.

The slogan "立足湾区，协同港澳" was conspicuously placed on Nansha's boat. The slogan was proposed in the Nansha Plan, and showcased the district's strategic position of being "based in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, coordinated with Hong Kong and Macao, and facing the world."

The slogan was surrounded by modern design elements that were inspired by Nansha's International Financial Forum (IFF) Permanent Site, CAS Space rockets, and the Mingzhu Bay Bridge. In addition, it integrated cultural elements such as Mazu culture, which was very eye-catching.
