The Lingdingyang Bridge, one of the key control projects of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, was recently connected its main fairway, local media outlets reported on May 6.
The 2,826-meter bridge is the world's largest offshore steel box girder suspension bridge, as well as the world's highest navigable sea bridge.
The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link aims to connect the two banks of the Pearl River and will become the "transportation backbone" that supports the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
In the future, after the completion of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, the travel time from Nansha district in Guangzhou to Zhongshan city will be shortened to less than 15 minutes. Additionally, the travel time from Nansha to Shenzhen city will be shortened to less than 20 minutes.
Both the Nansha-Zhongshan Expressway project and the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link are scheduled to be completed in 2024. They will further enhance the connectivity between major cities in the Greater Bay Area.
