Nansha welcomes its first batch of self-driving cars

Pony.ai was recently granted the first long-distance passenger carrying permit in Guangzhou, allowing it to launch its autonomous driving service (Robotaxi) in Guangzhou without the need for safety personnel, local media outlets reported on April 26.

In Nansha district, citizens can now use the PonyPilot+ app to reserve autonomous vehicles to take them to their destinations.

To date, Pony.ai has accumulated 21 million kilometers in autonomous driving mileage; while its unmanned test mileage has exceeded 1 million km.

Additionally, the number of paying customers to have reserved a Robotaxi has reached nearly 200,000. These figures indicate that Pony.ai's autonomous driving system has reached a balance in safety, comfort, and traffic efficiency.
