Nansha holds tree-planting activity

Guangzhou's Nansha district held a voluntary tree-planting activity on Feb 13, to promote the ecological construction of a "green and beautiful Guangdong".

Nearly 300 representatives from the relevant departments, key construction units and Nansha-based enterprises, planted 259 saplings along the ecological embankment of the starting area of Pearl Bay, adding about 5,000 square meters of green space to the area.

Nansha plans to increase investment to finish the construction of a 100-mu (7-hectares) "colorful forest". It will also finish 7,800 mu of afforestation engineering, and 23,000 mu of urban and rural greening projects.

The district will also focus on key tasks such as adding two new wetlands with provincial and municipal influence, and promote the protection of green corridors and ancient trees.
