The offshore wharf project in the Nansha Port Area of Guangzhou Port, one of Guangdong's key construction projects, was recently completed and passed the final acceptance, local media outlets reported on Nov 2.
With a total investment of 1.85 billion yuan ($255 million) and a land area of 825,000 square meters, the project is being constructed in two phases. To date, construction of two automobile ro-ro berths and one barge berth for the world's largest ro-ro ship has been completed in its first phase.
In addition, it has a 143,000-sq-m supporting commercial garage, which is the largest multi-storey commercial garage in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as it can provide transit and port gathering services for 5,258 cars simultaneously.
Upon operation, Nansha Automobile Port is expected to establish seven 10,000-metric-ton-level automobile ro-ro berths, with an annual commercial vehicles passing capacity of over 2 million.
It aims to become China's largest automobile logistics hub that integrates automobile ro-ro logistics, exhibition, and comprehensive services functions, contributing to China's construction of an international shipping logistics hub, as well as boosting the safety and stability of its automobile industry chain.
