The cold chain project in Guangzhou Nansha International Logistics Center started operation on Oct 25.

The project covers an area of 208,000 square meters, with a planned cold storage capacity of 460,000 metric tons, making it the largest single cold storage in China. It can provide one-stop comprehensive cold chain logistics services, guaranteeing the freshness of imported fruit like durian and satisfying public consumption needs.

Upon operation, it will import and export 10,000 twenty-feet equivalent units of cold chain cargo containers per month and simultaneously carry out inspections of 162 imported cargo containers, which will greatly improve transport efficacy.

The logistics center is located in the Nansha Port area, one of the most important hub ports in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with complete logistics infrastructure, abundant cargo sources, and strong logistics demand.

Due to its location advantage, the imported goods can reach all cities in the Greater Bay Area within one hour, and can reach other cities in China within 24 hours after passing the necessary procedures.

To date, more than 50 kinds of fresh cold chain products have been imported via the center, mostly seasonal fruit like durian, mangosteen, and carrion. The value of imports from January to September this year has exceeded 17.4 billion yuan ($2.4 billion).
