Guangzhou's Nansha district plans to build a nine-year school, which will have the capacity for 54 classes and can accommodate 2,580 students, at the tip of Hengli Island in the Pearl Bay, local media outlets reported on Oct 19.

Located north of Dayuan Road and west of Phoenix Avenue, the school is expected to cover a total land area of about 56,000 square meters and a floorage of about 86,000 sq m.

With a green space rate of 35 percent, the school enjoys rich landscape resources since it is adjacent to an urban park green space.

The school plans to build the main teaching buildings on the west side, while the sports areas will be set on the east side.

Between the two functional areas, public facilities, such as gymnasiums, libraries, and administrative offices, are expected to be established to connect different areas.

In addition, the school will build supporting facilities for teachers and students, including dormitories, canteens, semi-underground pick-up and drop-off areas, semi-underground indoor swimming pools, as well as a 400-meter standard track-and-field ground.
