Located on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary, Nansha Wetland is the largest coastal wetland in Guangzhou and a place where visitors can feel the wonderful natural ecological beauty at any time.

Nansha Wetland has good biodiversity and is known for its mangroves. It is an important habitat for birds, as well as a breeding ground for plankton, fish, shrimp, and crabs. From the water and the beach to the trees and the air, these creatures together form a complete food chain.

In addition, the wetland's mangrove forest belongs to the marine ecosystem along with coral reefs and seagrass beds, but it can also protect coastal residents by playing the role of "coast guard" by reducing wind and swell waves, as well as by preventing sand from washing away.

Furthermore, Nansha Wetland, as the largest coastal mangrove wetland in Guangzhou, plays an important role in conserving water and soil, as well as regulating climate. Hence, it is known as the "kidney of Guangzhou."
