The first Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) bus line started trial operations on Aug 15.

The 5-kilometer bus line has three stations, namely HKUST (Guangzhou) Station, Minxin Hong Kong School (Guangzhou Nansha) Station (to be opened), and Qingsheng Station, a stop on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-Speed Railway.

The bus runs from 6:30 to 22:30 with a 15-minute interval, and the ticket price is 1 yuan ($0.15). Equipped with level-three autonomous driving technology, the line is the third smart bus line in Nansha district.

Its operation is expected to improve the travel conditions for teachers and students from HKUST (Guangzhou) and Minxin Hong Kong School (Guangzhou Nansha) by providing a fast ride between the school and Qingsheng Station.

In addition, it is expected to leverage HKUST (Guangzhou)'s scientific and technological advantages in intelligent transportation, helping to build a national autonomous driving demonstration zone in the Qingsheng Hub.

Nansha plans to continue to optimize the bus line's operations and service based on results from the trial operations, providing transportation support for the implementation of the Nansha Plan, an overall plan for Nansha to deepen comprehensive cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.
