HKUST (Guangzhou) welcomes 1st batch of students

The first batch of freshmen of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) is in the process of registering for the upcoming school year.

In the next few days, more than 500 master's and doctoral students newly admitted to HKUST (Guangzhou) this year will complete their school registration and will welcome the start of the semester on Sept 1 together with faculty and staff members.

Students entering the campus for the first time will have to verify their identity with their ID card and physical examination report to receive their campus card directly.

The university has also specially prepared small gifts for new students and is holding a series of welcome activities. In addition, academic lectures and other activities are being offered.

The university has a variety of accommodation types, such as single rooms, suites, six-person dormitories, seven-person dormitories, and eight-person dormitories. The campus' Building No 2 has 53 sets of eight-person dormitories, one set of seven-person dormitories, and 13 sets of six-person dormitories.

In the dormitory for six people, each person has a separate bedroom, which is equipped with a single bed, a wardrobe, and a writing desk. The common area of the dormitory boasts a sofa, a coffee table, a kitchen, and two bathrooms.

In addition, the ground floor of all accommodations is equipped with a variety of auxiliary facilities, such as clinics, pharmacies, shops, cafeterias, banks, academic exchange rooms, as well as retail stores.

The school will also open four restaurants in the future, which can accommodate up to 700 people at the same time. Besides Chinese food, there will also be western food and light meals available. In addition, coffee shops will open on campus in the future.
