Updated: 2022-08-03chinadaily.com.cn

Built in the 1930s, the Butterfly Building is located in Yuwotou village, Dongchong town, Nansha district, Guangzhou. It has been designated a cultural relics protection unit in Guangzhou.

Formerly home to the Yuwotou township government headquarters, the Butterfly Building was very helpful for studying the history of Nansha during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1931-45), said Luan Cheng, a researcher at the Humen Fortress Management Institute in Nansha.

The two-floor building has a reinforced concrete structure and yellow-painted exterior walls. It is about 9.2 meters high, and it covers an area of 207.35 square meters.

There are many gun holes and observation windows up and down the building.

A fenced area is set up around the roof, with a gun hole every 0.3 meters. There are also stone stairs from the first to the second floor.
