SCUT, Nansha cooperates to build innovation valley

The administrative committee of Nansha Development Zone and South China University of Technology (SCUT) signed a cooperation framework agreement on June 22 to jointly build Nansha Science and Technology Innovation Valley.

According to the agreement, the two sides will carry out cooperation in areas like high-end technological innovation, the commercialization of research findings, innovation in the science and technology industry, as well as industrial R&D clustering.

The innovation valley will focus on the technological innovation and achievement transformation in the fields of next-generation information technology, new materials, artificial intelligence, as well as new energy. It will be built into an innovation hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It will also become the main supporting region for Nansha to be a comprehensive national science center and an accelerator for Nansha to be a comprehensive cooperation demonstration zone in the Greater Bay Area.

In addition, enterprises by SCUT alumni will be encouraged to settle in the valley, with the aim of building the valley into an internationally leading enterprise R&D base that will integrate functions like scientific R&D, business, conferences and exhibitions, smart manufacturing, education and training, as well as cultural tourism.

The valley will be located in the Qingsheng transportation hub area. It will then have convenient transportation, and be close to high-quality Hong Kong and Macao innovation resources like Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou).
