Construction on the Lingshan Forum Science Center in Guangzhou's Nansha district is scheduled to begin in June, with the center expected to attract international scientists and high-tech enterprises to gather in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Upon completion, the Lingshan Forum Science Center will serve as the permanent site of the Greater Bay Science Forum, as well as host a high-level scientific and technological innovation think tank for the Greater Bay Area.

It is located in the core area of Pearl Bay, east of the central business district of Lingshan Island and adjacent to Nansha Science City.

The planned area of the site is about 100,000 square meters, including academic centers, science and technology innovation centers, as well as other facilities. The buildings at the conference site will demonstrate smart city design concepts, applying new smart and green technology to its infrastructure.

Nansha has released the Architectural Concept Scheme for the Permanent Site of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum International Competition in February to solicit forward-looking and innovative design proposals from all over the world.

A total of 52 renowned design teams comprised of industry experts from China and abroad have signed up for the competition. The construction of the site is scheduled to start before the end of June and be completed by the end of 2024. It will become a landmark building that can host world-class high-level science exchange activities.

The forum will be held in the second half of each year.

In addition to hosting the Greater Bay Area Science Forum, the Lingshan Forum Science Center will also set up the Bay Area Innovation and Technology Achievement Award in the future to provide opportunities for scientists and young talents who have contributed to scientific cooperation and development in the Greater Bay Area to demonstrate their work.
