Nansha provides grain for South China

Updated: 2022-04-20chinadaily.com.cn

The throughput of grain cargo at the Nansha General Grain Port from April 11 to 15 is expected to exceed 350,000 metric tons, exemplifying the recent strong demand for grain and oil processing and production.

At present, Guangzhou Port has a fixed warehouse capacity of about 1.8 million tons, with its food supply scope covering all of South China.

In the future, Guangzhou Port will build a "big granary" in South China, with an annual throughput of 35 million tons. At present, the 409,000-ton silos of Nansha General Grain Port have been completed and put into operation, with production capacity gradually increasing.

The construction of the second phase of the Nansha General Grain Port Silo project has entered the final stage and is ready for production. The second phase of the Xinsha Port area of Guangzhou Port will be put into operation in 2022. By then, Guangzhou Port will have 21 10,000-ton grain and general berths.

Five trains were sent out on April 14 as part of the sea-rail integrated transportation from Nansha Port, which marked the first time that more than 500 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) were transported in a single day since the Nansha Port Railway was put into operation.

The transportation price reduction policy from Nansha Port to most of the container stations in the national railway network has been approved. Guangzhou Port Logistics has also begun to provide multi-category customized logistics services, covering products like grain, timber, and auto parts, starting from Nansha to Jiangxi, Hunan, as well as cities in Guangdong.
