After completing the initial commissioning and safety assessment stages, the first section of Metro Line 22, running from Panyu Square to Chentougang stations, was put into service on March 31.

With a total length of 30.8 kilometers, Line 22 is an underground line with eight stations, including four transfer stations, and a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour. After the whole line is put into operation, it will connect Nansha with Panyu, Liwan, and Guangzhou South Railway Station.

Upon completion, it will be more convenient for Nansha residents to travel to Guangzhou South Railway Station. For example, Wanqingsha residents can directly transfer to Line 22 at Panyu Square Station, with the whole trip only taking about 33 minutes, cutting travel time by about one-third.

Transferring between Metro Lines 18, 3, and 22 will be more convenient. At Panyu Square Station, it takes about six minutes to transfer from Line 3 to 22.

Line 22 has an automatic operation system. The train can automatically start and run, as well as automatically wash in the parking lot, without the driver's operation. It can effectively improve the efficiency of operation management, reduce the cost of operation management, and promote industrial upgrading.

In addition to the automatic operation system of Line 22, Guangzhou Metro will further promote the automatic operation system of Line 18 and related interface debugging.
