COSCO Shipping Bulk flourishes in Nansha

COSCO Shipping Bulk's business achieved rapid development during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20) by making use of Nansha's location advantages and preferential policies.

COSCO Shipping Bulk settled in Nansha in 2016. It is the global bulk business headquarters of the shipping industry group of China COSCO Shipping Cooperation.

At present, the company has 13,800 employees. It owns and controls more than 400 bulk carriers of various types, with a capacity of more than 40 million metric tons, ranking first in the world. Its routes cover more than 1,000 ports in more than 100 countries and regions around the world, carrying dry bulk cargo like iron ore and coal.

The company's turnover reached 29.7 billion yuan in 2021, an increase of 148 percent compared with the turnover of 2016 in 11.96 billion yuan ($1.88 billion).

In January 2022, the company moved its ship management , safety supervision, and technology departments to Nansha, which boast about 280 employees, accounting for one-third of the total employees in the whole company.

In the future, the company will continue to expand its business to consolidate its position as the world's largest bulk cargo company, as well as make reforms and innovations in the fields of carbon neutrality, green energy, and factor trading.
