The first tumor radiation therapy center in Nansha district opened at Guangzhou First People's Hospital (Nansha).
Since the center's opening, 28 patients have received radiation treatment, and the treatment process has gone smoothly. The equipment is also in good working order.
Nansha's government has backed the hospital's efforts to construct a tumor radiation therapy center in recent years, spending 32 million yuan ($5 million) to bring Nansha's first Elekta Infinity linear accelerator, Philips large-aperture positioning CT, and other cutting-edge technologies to the hospital.
The hospital's new linear accelerator provides the advantages of accurate tumor location and reduced damage to normal tissue, as well as the ability to use a number of modern tumor radiation methods.
"The operation of the center will further improve the medical services of the tumor department at our hospital," said Cao Xiaofei, person in charge of the radiation therapy center.
