Nansha tops Guangdong in manufacturing development

Nansha was recently rated the top county-level city or district in terms of manufacturing development in Guangdong province for the second consecutive year, local media outlets reported on Feb 7.

In 2020 and 2021, its industrial output value above designated scale reached 284.52 billion yuan ($44.75 billion) and 340.17 billion yuan respectively, ranking second in terms of total industrial economy in Guangzhou.

Its industrial added value increased by 8.3 percent on average, reaching 66.95 billion yuan and 67.67 billion yuan respectively in 2020 and 2021, with an average growth rate that ranked first in Guangzhou in the past two years.

Nansha has built 17 key industrial chains, including smart network connection, new energy vehicles, and equipment manufacturing.

Since 2018, Nansha has invested a total of 260 million yuan to support manufacturing enterprises in carrying out technological transformation and smart technology development. Midea Group's Nansha factory has been designated a global "Lighthouse Factory."

Nansha has also issued and implemented targeted industrial support policies. Its accumulated reward funds have reached nearly 300 million yuan, benefiting more than 200 enterprises.

The district's advanced manufacturing system consists of smart network and new energy vehicles, as well as modern high-end equipment as its two pillar industries. They are complemented by artificial intelligence and five other emerging industries, as well as the two future fields of marine economy and the aerospace industry.
